Where to order essential oils online and get best quality?

It is difficult to know what stores sell essential oils where a customer can get the therapeutic benefits they demand, so here are a few tips to make it easier

A few weeks ago a fellow advocate from another quality essential oils company reached out to me on Linkedin. He asked me about the quality of our essential oils in regards to his family’s health and wellness as well as a view to considering building a business with our products.

After many weeks corresponding with him he felt we were offering something extra and enrolled with my team. Even thought I always knew that essential oil quality was important, I didn’t realize how deep the need to understand it was, so I decided to create this article to answer these questions.

What customers want to know before they order essential oils online

His main concern was the quality and buying the best essential oils money could buy. So with the assistance of the product specialists we answered his questions. Below I have made a shortened version of what came from the conversation.

  1. As one of the more reputable essential oil companies, are there any natural fillers in your products?
    • None of our essential oils contain fillers or artificial ingredients that would dilute their active qualities. They are free of contaminants, such as pesticides or other chemical residues. However, carrageenan, which is a natural fiber extracted from seaweed is used in our vegetarian softgels and beadlets. This is apart of the shell, as well as in our toothpaste to help with the structure.
  2. Are there any components in your essential oils have no aromatic component?
    • Every time you order essential oils online from us there will be aromatic component. However, our essential oils are a pure botanical extracts and will have slight variances from time to time. This may be due to:
      • Weather conditions (temperature, sunlight frequency)
      • Moisture content (rain frequency, plant water content)
      • Soil conditions (temperature, microbial activity)
      • Insect activity (essential oils are often produced in response to pests) at the time of harvest.
    • Each essential oil is tested for purity and potency. Microbial tests are performed to ensure safety. Although a sense of smell is needed to appreciate the delicate aromas of essential oils, you can still enjoy a wide range of benefits from essential oils through topical and internal use.
  3. In regards to product extraction, are you using Hexanes or Pentanes or what?
    • We conducts several tests for each essential oil. Here is some helpful information about testing. It is important to remember that just seeing a GC/MS or testing information isn’t helpful unless you can read and properly analyze the information. We work closely with expert chemists to analyze and ensure the right chemical compounds are in each essential oil. The test include:
      • Gas chromatography
      • Mass spectrometry
      • Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)
      • Heavy metal testing
      • Organoleptic testing
      • Microbial testing
      • Finally the evaluation of the essential oils by their physical and aromatic properties by testing for any bacteria, yeast, mold, etc that may be present.
  4. What solvent will remain in the final product, if any?
    • Unlike steam distillation, expression, sometimes referred to as “cold pressed,” does not involve heat. In this process, oil is extracted from the product under mechanical pressure. We use expression to extract all of our citrus oils, such as:
          • Wild Orange
          • Lemon
          • Lime
          • Bergamot
          • Grapefruit
    • The pure essential oils is extracted from the rind.
    • The citrus and tree resin oils will sometimes have waxes and other particles present in the extraction. Citrus oils involve cold pressing the oils and the tree resin oils come from the tree sap. Although we try to mitigate the amount of solids in these oils, they are always present. They are not foreign to the plant material and in no way change the effectiveness of the aromatic compounds in the extract.
    • Regardless of the care and skill exercised in plant selection, care and harvest, much of the quality can either be preserved or diminished during the distillation process. Proper distillation requires a consideration for the uniqueness of pressure, temperature, time, and harvesting practices, each of which may be as diverse as the plants themselves.
    • A poor distillation process can alter or destroy the necessary aromatic compounds that comprise the essential oil, leaving a substance far different from the intended goal and something that would not be used to support health and wellness. For this reason, the best distillation artisans dedicate their efforts and work to only a few select plants. This focused effort develops proper knowledge and experience, helping ensure congruence between the oil chemistry of the plant and its distilled form. Jasmine and vanilla plants yield oil in such low amounts that steam distillation isn’t practical.
    • In order to provide these powerful extracts, we utilize a complex system of solvent extraction, followed by evaporation of the solvent. After the first extraction, the solvent is completely evaporated at the right temperature and pressure, leaving behind a concrete: a hard, solid mass of all hydrophobic plant molecules, including waxes and other materials.
    • To remove these, the concrete is soaked in hot ethanol (a grain alcohol), which dissolves the absolute molecules and leaves the wax behind. Then, the ethanol is evaporated at a specific temperature and pressure to prevent any leftover solvents from remaining in the mix while maintaining the delicate, complex fragrance of the absolute.
  5. Do you have any of your own farms?
    • We partner with expert growers, harvesters, chemists, etc. to provide the highest quality and most potent essential oils, so our relationship with these experts represents a significant investment that has allowed us to set such high quality essential oil standards.
    • We search the globe to identify the best plant material, which is then harvested and expertly distilled for oil potency and quality. Many of our essential oils come from countries facing economic and environmental challenges. This provides a unique opportunity to produce the highest quality essential oils while also doing good in a sustainable way.
    • We are creating jobs and improving incomes in countries where they are much needed, in addition to developing long-term partnerships with artisan small-scale growers and distillers around the world. These partnerships transform the playing field for growers to improve their production and establish stable prices with a trustworthy, long-term buyer.
    • We are also helping growers organize themselves into cooperatives to achieve common goals and higher quality while ensuring their farms receive fair and on-time payments in favorable installments that help throughout the year.
    • In these areas we are also funding the construction of schools, health clinics, cooperative buildings, water systems, and more to empower growers, their families, and their communities today and tomorrow.
  6. Can you tell me how your distillation process differs from others?
    • As important as it is to keep contaminants out of our oils, assuring the presence of their active compounds, at the right levels, is also necessary to guarantee safety and effectiveness.
    • Many oils claim to be therapeutic grade, and some may be pure, but few are subjected to rigorous testing standards for chemical composition.
    • Therapeutic Grade essential oils are cross tested using a variety of chemistry techniques to ensure both extract purity and composition potency of each batch.
    • We harvest our plants and quickly and carefully distill the aromatic compounds of the plants. Other than testing for purity and composition, there is no other processing or manufacturing of the oils. They are extracts.
    • Nature did all the work; we just carefully remove the aromatic compounds and put them in the bottles. Pure and simple!

In addition, we do not ever use the following:

  • Artificial colors
  • Diethanolamine (DEA)
  • Formaldehyde donors
  • Parabens
  • Phthalates
  • Propylene glycol
  • Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)
  • Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS)
  • Toluene
  • Triethanolamine (TEA).

Order essential oils online

Can a customer order essential oils online and still guarantee this standard of quality?

Of course, in fact ordering directly from our online store is the best way to guarantee the therapeutic quality you have paid for. However, I would not suggest purchasing our products via Amazon or eBay because we cannot be sure that what you are buying is even our essential oils.  So, the best place to buy essential oils online is directly from the company itself.

The importance of quality has become the theme from many of my customers and partners in this industry. So, the safest option is either becoming an essential oils sells rep, a wholesale customer or retail customer and purchase directly from the company.

BUY DIRECT

How much are essential oils at the quality you have described?

It depends on the oil you want to buy, but yes price and quality go hand in hand in hand. This is not suggesting that the products are not worth the money because they are. As you have already read, the production and process of creating a high quality therapeutic grade essential oil is complex and involved.
