There are a few books that are worth a reading but one worth considering is “The slight Edge” by Jeff Olson that explains:

Why do we need a network marketing mindset?

Think about for a few minutes the excitement of starting a business and all the possibilities that comes with it. It is great for the first few months until reality slowly starts to dawn on you:

The enroller and sponsors are supportive and knowledgeable
The network marketing company is well run and their products are just the best
And, you really want to be a successful network marketer or a successful business person

However, why is your business not moving forward?

Firstly, ask yourself, “Do I have the right mindset to success for network marketing?”

What does it take to run a network marketing business?

Running a network marketing business is like running a marathon, which most runners and athletes will understand is 90% mental and 10% physical.

Everyday you work on your business, putting one foot in front of the other, but your mental strength will be the thing that pushes you forward when you feel you cannot continue.

Many years ago I watch a dear friend of mine during a bad time in his life after himself becoming a successful network marketer and then losing it all. He sat in a small apartment eating cold beans out of a can and within a year become successful in a network marketer for the second time from almost nothing.

When I asked him, “how he managed to become successful while others were not even though your life was a mess?” He told me, “Even though things were bad, people in my life still needed me, so I needed to change my attitude, become self-motivated, have desire and discipline to make this business work.”

After pondering his answer for many years I put it down to his own mindset to success and turning a bad situation into good. People needed him so he needed to step up and get his shit together. Over the years we get together for a chat and over that time I begun to understand some of the key points that made him successful. So, below I have shared them with you.

The 5 keys to develop a mindset to success

- Socialize with successful people:
  - Consider this, if you socialize with people who are going nowhere guess who else is going nowhere. Find people who inspire you to become more that you are and gain that success you have always desired.
  - Now, ask yourself if the people you surround yourself with lift you up or cause you to doubt yourself.
  - If they bring you down, what will you do about that?
- Never stop learning something new:
  - Learning is about developing new skills which will help one succeed in the MLM industry
  - All network marketer regardless how long they have been in the industry need to home new skills to keep on top of their game.
  - Learning helps the network marketer to become a more interesting person, hence an interesting person to be involved with.
  - These new skills will give you the knowledge to become a leader with a vision and the mindset for success
  - As you develop, your mind grows and adjusts accordingly giving you the confidence to interact with prospects interested in your business
- There is no such this as “can’t”:
  - Nobody has succeeded in anything when they started the conversation with, “can’t”
  - I have spoken with many people that said they really wanted to be successful in MLM, but they would start by saying: I can’t talk to people about my business, I can’t do sales and I can’t find the time
  - Beginning a dialogue with yourself that starts with “can’t” means you have predetermined your chances of success with failure.
  - Limiting what you do in life by saying “I can’t” is counter productive and the death of personal and business success
  - Refer to limited beliefs and the fixed mindset vs. growth mindset argument
- Build a support system:
  - Who is supporting you?
  - Who is helping you to build your business?
  - Having a support system can be the difference between success and failure
  - People close to you may not support your efforts or understand why you are involved with MLM, so surround yourself with positive like-minded people
  - Contact your sponsor, mentor and use online groups of like-minded people who are all interested in becoming successful in MLM
  - Establishing a good support system will help with developing a success mindset for your business
- Create a positive and successful mindset routine:
  - Have you looked at the top network marketers and said to yourself, “I want some of that!”
  - When you see someone who is fit, slim and healthy don’t think about how good they look. Think about their daily habits that are needed to achieve that result and the slight edge that got them there.
  - The positive routine philosophy can be transferred into your network marketing daily action plan, business and life.
  - Ask yourself, what are the top earners doing on a daily basis? Find out! Do something similar in your daily life.

Why do we hold ourselves back from the success and income we really want and deserve? It is a complex question, but in many cases the answer is simple. - Unlike steam distillation, expression, sometimes referred to as “cold pressed,” does not involve heat. In this process, oil is extracted from the product under mechanical pressure. We use expression to extract all of our citrus oils, such as:
  - - - Wild Orange
      - Lemon
      - Lime
      - Bergamot
      - Grapefruit
- The pure essential oils is extracted from the rind.
- The citrus and tree resin oils will sometimes have waxes and other particles present in the extraction. Citrus oils involve cold pressing the oils and the tree resin oils come from the tree sap. Although we try to mitigate the amount of solids in these oils, they are always present. They are not foreign to the plant material and in no way change the effectiveness of the aromatic compounds in the extract.
- Regardless of the care and skill exercised in plant selection, care and harvest, much of the quality can either be preserved or diminished during the distillation process. Proper distillation requires a consideration for the uniqueness of pressure, temperature, time, and harvesting practices, each of which may be as diverse as the plants themselves.
- A poor distillation process can alter or destroy the necessary aromatic compounds that comprise the essential oil, leaving a substance far different from the intended goal and something that would not be used to support health and wellness. For this reason, the best distillation artisans dedicate their efforts and work to only a few select plants. This focused effort develops proper knowledge and experience, helping ensure congruence between the oil chemistry of the plant and its distilled form. Jasmine and vanilla plants yield oil in such low amounts that steam distillation isn’t practical.
- In order to provide these powerful extracts, we utilize a complex system of solvent extraction, followed by evaporation of the solvent. After the first extraction, the solvent is completely evaporated at the right temperature and pressure, leaving behind a concrete: a hard, solid mass of all hydrophobic plant molecules, including waxes and other materials.
- To remove these, the concrete is soaked in hot ethanol (a grain alcohol), which dissolves the absolute molecules and leaves the wax behind. Then, the ethanol is evaporated at a specific temperature and pressure to prevent any leftover solvents from remaining in the mix while maintaining the delicate, complex fragrance of the absolute.

What is the traditional method of running a VeloVita business?

When I originally wrote this page, I received an email asking me what was the traditional method, so below I have added that information.

In the past, in addition to writing our list, we were told that we needed to speak to everyone within arm length. That really was the second stage, when we had understood that family and friends were not that interested. However, many of the product based businesses have become house parties or coffee mornings. This is really an adaptation of reaching out to people at the bus stop or the shopping line. Coffee morning mean you have a group of people with a social connection allowing the distributor to discuss and present the products. In many case party plan guests become customers and over time distributor. They see how you have made money and want to do the same.

So, why is this strategy so bad?

It is not bad, but it is very time consuming and you need to be there. However, many online marketer have started running online parties via Zoom and Facebook live with great success.

So, how do we duplicate something that is normally a social event into an online event?

In theory, the method is the same. Whatever turned you on and made you excited about working in direct sales, just simply translate that to an online platform. However, for those that enjoy the party plan method, there is a hybrid method that many of my team have found very useful.

The hybrid method

The main issue for most of my team who insist on doing some kind of party plan is the follow up. They forget or lose the paper it was written on or don’t want to ask or simply too afraid to reach out to the prospect. Below I have shared a simply solution to that problem.

As your customers and prospects arrive at your sales party ask them to add their name and email address to a list as a part of a competition. Inform them, that within a few days they will receive an email telling them if the have won a free products gift or not.

Then add their names to a mailing list such a Aweber, so you can follow up with your customers in the future. This is a simply, but power marketing method that blends email marketing and traditional MLM. Many of my team have found that once they have started using this digital campaign strategy other parts of online marketing become clear.

That is a great question and one that I ponder over myself when I was struggling many years ago with my MLM businesses.

Simply answer. I was struggling to build a team and make money so I needed to find an alternative strategy that worked!

This is not as surprising as you may think, because its about wanting to make money rather than needing to make money. Complaining about not having money is different to wanting to do anything about it.

The key is to inspire the reader to be more than they are and to want more than they have. The main issue for most people wanting to have more is the fear that they will not achieve the goals they have put down for themselves.

As a part of the learning process a good place to start is to assess and evaluate our already existing knowledge bank. We can see what our starting point is, what we still need to learn and then what track is right for me and you.

Skills

Your strengths and weaknesses could be seen as your enthusiasm, trustworthiness, creativity, discipline, patience, respectfulness, determination, dedication, honesty and versatility, but the lack of technical knowledge such as social media marketing.

Typically, we resist re-education believing that what worked in the past will work today, but the fact is, it does not. The people in the know would say that rule breakers are no good for business, but I will and do disagree. This question is asking if you are willing to take instructions, because most business trainers will tell you they have a tried and tested method that works. They will also tell you that anyone that didn’t do the system fail miserably. However, as Gary Vaynerchuk would argue, “You have to understand your own personal DNA. Don’t do things because I do them or Steve Jobs or Mark Cuban tried it. You need to know your personal brand and stay true to it.”

Yes – If you are a rule breaker you also need to be sure of yourself and willing to take action and achieve your goals. Personally, I would listen to what the man says, learn from it, take the bits that work for you and then do it your way.
No – If you are not a rule breaker and willing to learn, then life might be easier if not as much fun as the rule breaker.

Life and business is about learning from the master and taken what you have learnt and becoming the master yourself. It is a long journey but one worth taken.
